BROCKTON--The annual Brockton Cape Verdean Day Festival will be held Sunday, July 31 on the grounds of the Fuller Craft Museum.
There will be live bands, numerous performances, children's games, activities and rides, and a host of food vendors.
Most activities are free and all are welcome.
The festival takes place at 455 Oak Street and runs from Noon to 7 p.m.

Free Soccer Camp For Brockton Youth

BROCKTON--Mass Premier Soccer & Bank of America Inner City Initiative will hold a three day camp from August 15-17 at Southeastern Regional High School, free of charge to player’s from Brockton ages 8-16.
Players will be provided daily transportation to and from camp conducted by MPS professionally licensed coaches.
MPS offers a unique camp program built upon age appropriate, structured curriculum delivered in a fun and challenging environment.

Summerfest Kicks Off Aug. 5

BROCKTON--School officials will host Summefest Aug. 5-7 in honor of the 40th anniversary of the high school and community schools program.
“Summerfest was a great way for people of all ages to get together, have some fun and enjoy being a part of Brockton,” said Community Schools Director Kathleen Smith in a prepared statement.
“Community Schools is meant to be a center of activity for children and adults, and we see this project as a way to kick-start one of Brockton’s best events and get people excited to celebrate summer and the city--together,” she said.
Summerfest was launched in 1971 to cap off the yearlong celebration of the new Brockton High School and the recently launched Community Schools program.
The event, which ran for many years, was a blend of music, food, crafts and activities for families.
Summerfest will return August 5-7 with events and activities for residents of all ages.
The revived Summerfest will kick off Friday night August 5 with a Summerfest dance at 7 p.m. at the Shaw’s Center.
Attendees will get to kick it up with their classmates, friends and neighbors, take in a Brockton Rox baseball game, and dance the night away to the tunes of their youth.
The family-themed Summerfest activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday August 6th at Brockton High School. S
chool and community groups, athletic organizations and friends from all over the city will organize games, crafts and activities for children of all ages.
Food, music, swimming (indoors and out) are part of a line-up that promises to be a fun day out for the whole family.
Summerfest weekend winds down Sunday Aug. 7 at Campanelli Stadium when the Rox take on the Rockland Boulders at 5:05 p.m.

UPCOMING: AUG. 26: Emerging40 South Shore Mixer

Emerging40, a nonpartisan young professionals network, will host a South Shore social mixer, "2011 White Party," Friday, Aug. 26 at the Shaw's Center in Brockton.
Andrew Ambroise, the group's head, said he hopes everyone wears white--whether it be a white suit or white dress--to coincide with the "2011 White Party."
He describes the event as an exclusive social mixer for the area's young professionals who are looking to have a good time while connecting with new friends in the area.
There will be food, wine tasting, dancing and music by DJ Chubby Chub, who will feature Top40, Pop, 80's, 90's, Hip Hop and Old Skool.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Patriots Brown Celebrates With Rox Saturday

BROCKTON--The Brockton Rox will celebrate an extended homestand this week with beer specials, special events and an appearance by former New England Patriot Troy Brown, who will throw out the first pitch Saturday, July 23.
Game time is 7:05 p.m. when the Rox, on a 12-1 hotstreak, will take on Newark.
Brown will sign autographs and throw out the first pitch.
Also Saturday night, the Rox will celebrate National Hot Dog day by giving out a voucher for a free hot dog to the first 1,000 fans.
The Rox are also trying to set the Guinness World Record for the World's Most Expensive Hot Dog.

Free Summer Movie Nights At Rox Stadium

BROCKTON--Kids and parents are invited to spend two Friday nights at Campanelli Stadium for two free movies beginning Friday, July 15 with a free showing of "How To Train Your Dragon."
Mayor Linda M. Balzotti and the Brockton Rox have teamed up to bring the family oriented nights to residents.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the movies begin at 6:15.
Concession stands will be open during the movies.
The event is free.
The next movie will be "Tangled," which will be shown Friday, Aug. 12.
All are welcome to attend.
